Material Handling Winches Are NOT Aftermarket Options on Bucket Trucks
As I’ve recently browsed the inventory of numerous used bucket truck dealers around the country, I’ve noticed a disturbingly dangerous trend. Dealers are advertising bucket trucks with “optional” material handlers or “optional” material handling winches. Yes, many bucket trucks have material handling capabilities and if used properly can safely lift supplies and materials. But all safe material handlers were installed by the Original Equipment Manufacturer and integrated into booms that were designed for that specific winch & configuration (like the example in the picture above). They were NOT installed by some aftermarket dealer and ARE NOT an aftermarket option. Not all bucket truck booms are rated for or designed for a material handler. A word of caution, if you see a bucket truck dealer advertising an “optional” material handler, avoid the dealer and seek a more reputable source for your equipment needs. If you have any questions about material handling bucket trucks or need more information, speak to the professionals at Utility Fleet Sales.
